Brazilian club agreed a contract with Ronaldinho
President of the Brazilian soccer club Gremio Paulo Odone said that the club reached agreement on a contract with the Italian AC Milan midfielder Ronaldinho. According to Odone, now the player’s agent Roberto de Assis will discuss with the leadership of AC Milan conditions of transfer.
Gremio president Paulo Odone says the club has agreed terms with AC Milan star Ronaldinho.
Ronaldinho, 30, has been widely linked with a move away from the San Siro after failing to produce his best form since his 2008 move from Barcelona. The arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho this summer has now restricted his first-team involvement, while Antonio Cassano has just committed to a transfer from Sampdoria.
With his contract due to expire in the summer, a return to Gremio has been discussed and it now appears a January switch is in the offing.
“On the part of Gremio and Ronaldinho, everything is already set,” Odone told RBS TV. “What remains now is for [Ronaldinho's agent Roberto de] Assis to negotiate the release of the player from the Italian club.
“The important thing is that Ronaldinho wants to return to Gremio, where his house is and where he learned football.”
Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi had earlier said: “It seems that he is leaving.”
Palmeiras have also shown interest in Ronaldinho and reports in Italy on Wednesday had said they still hoped to complete a deal.
