President Saakashvili met with Barack Obama and Joe Biden

U.S. President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden on Friday, January 14, met with the Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili . As reported at the White House Web site, the meeting was held in Washington after a memorial service for Richard Holbrooke , the American diplomat, who passed away in mid-December 2010.

The two leaders discussed Georgia’s economic development and increasing trade. In addition, they were talking about security issues in the Caucasus region and the cooperation of the Georgian and U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

Obama also thanked Saakashvili for the fact that he came to honor the memory of Holbrooke.
