Roberto Carlos Olympic goal direct from corner

Defender of the Brazilian soccer club Corinthians, Roberto Carlos scored a goal direct from a corner kick Roberto Carlos struck the gate of the club, “Portuguesa” at the 20 th minute of the meeting, which ended in victory for Corinthians 2:0.

According to the 37-year old football player, he noticed that the goalie “Portuguesa” Veverton talks with his defense counsel, and therefore decided to quickly implement the corner. “It worked,” – said Roberto Carlos.
After winning the corner with a typical charging run down the left wing, Carlos spotted Portuguesa goalkeeper Weverton standing out of position while organising his defence.

The quick-thinking former Real Madrid and Inter Milan full-back promptly curled the ball with the outside of his left foot into the unguarded net.

Carlos revealed after the game that the Olympic goal, so named in South America after Cesareo Onzari scored direct from a corner kick against Olympic champions Uruguay in 1924, is a skill he has been working on throughout his illustrious career.

‘That was the first Olympic goal of my career. It took a long time coming, right?’ he said.

Carlos is just one of a number of Brazilian superstars who have chosen to end their careers in their homeland.

Ronaldo plays at Corinthians with Carlos, while Ronaldinho recently signed a contract to represent Flamengo of Rio de Janeiro.

Roberto Carlos moved to the Corinthians from the Turkish Fenerbahce in 2010. In the past, the defender played for Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
