Mercedes-Benz confirmed launch of a series of versatile CLS

On Monday, Nov. 8, the company Mercedes-Benz has officially confirmed its plans to launch serial production wagon based on car CLS. Assembling the vehicle will be launched in 2012 at the plant of Daimler in the German town of Sindelfingen, where already collected seven models Brand – C-E-S-Class, CL, CLS, SLS AMG, B-Class fuel cell, as well as luxury limousine Maybach and armored modified Mercedes.

Conceptual modification Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake was introduced in April this year at the Motor Show in Beijing. The prototype car was slightly larger than the versatile E-Class: its length was 4.96 meters, width – 1,95 m, height – 1.44 meters. The car was equipped with a 306-horsepower six-cylinder petrol engine of 3.5 liter direct-injection, and seven-speed automatic transmission and a system of “start-stop”.

Production car is expected to be offered with the same engines as the sedan Mercedes-Benz CLS new generation. At the moment, “four-door coupe” in the European market is available with two 3.5-liter six-cylinder engines: 265-hp gasoline unit and 306-horsepower diesel engine. Also the model can be ordered with four-cylinder diesel engine volume 2.5 liters and output of 204 horsepower and a 402-strong “Eight.

  1. The manual mode for the transmission is no VW, but it actually felt fairly natural, especially on those long s-curve on-ramps.

  2. But what would be the mileage of this car. Lot of people say the older model makes a huge noise.
