Winston Churchill’s car will be sold at auction
Car of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s Daimler DB18 Drophead Coupe 1939 issue sold in the UK auction Brooklands. Approximate lot price will be 200-250 thousand pounds, according to the official website of the auction.
Initially the company planned to release in 1923 Daimler coupe-cabriolet DB18 Drophead Coupe, but their plans to prevent the outbreak of the Second World War. The result has been collected only eight pieces. Four cars were destroyed during the bombing of British cities by German aviation, one copy was seriously injured and was treated in detail, two cars were missing.
Exposed for sale Daimler DB18 Drophead Coupe – the only surviving copy. He belonged to Churchill from 1944 to 1949: during this period were made by the photos and videos depicting the prime minister in a car DB18.
Car Daimler DB18 Drophead Coupe is equipped with six-cylinder inline engine capacity of 2.5 liters and output of 70 horsepower. The engine is mounted with a quad-speed manual gearbox. Its top speed is 122 km / h, acceleration to 80 miles per hour and takes him 17.9 seconds.
Auction held on December 4. Until that time, the car will be on display in an exhibit at the Museum Brooklands, located in Surrey.
