Ukrainian heavyweight boxer Wladimir Klitschko has reached a preliminary agreement on a fight with Briton David Haye. Bout wiil be held July 2 in England or Germany.Attempts to organize a fight with Haye’s one of the Klitschko brothers have been conducted for nearly two years. In 2009 David Haye signed a contract to fight with Wladimir, but latter declined to go into the ring, citing a back injury. Then he signed a contract to fight with Vitali Klitschko , but refused to fight, citing unacceptable conditions of the agreement.
IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KOs) spoke Fightnews.com: “We have never so far not entered into negotiations with the team of Haye. David for several years has connected his name with Klitschko. This is what he gets.
He is an excellent promoter, but in the ring you’ll see what kind of fighter he is. The contract is not signed yet, but we already have something important – a preliminary agreement on July 2. By the end of 2011, all the titles in the heavyweight divison will be mine and Vitali’s. The fight will be in Europe. We are both Europeans and I think that there will be more interest in the Klitschko-Haye in Europe than in the U.S.A. We will divide the money fifty-fifty.”
On April 30th, Wladimir Klitschko will defend against Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KOs) in Mannheim, Germany at the SAP-Arena
Currently, Wladimir Klitschko is the champion of the world according to IBF (International Boxing Federation) and WBO (World Boxing Organization) and his older brother Vitali – according to WBC (World Boxing Council). Haye holds the title of champion under version WBA (World Boxing Association).
