Former Alice In Chains bassist Mike Starr found dead
Former bassist Alice In Chains, Mike Starr was found dead at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah. The musician was 44. Starr’s body was discovered by police who received a call of a possible death at a residence. The official cause of death was not disclosed.
It is known that Mike Starr was suffering from severe drug addiction. In 2010 he took part in the filming of the American reality show Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, Sober House. February 17, 2011 Starr was arrested on charges of possessing drugs. Starr’s former Alice in Chains band mates, Jerry Cantrell and Sean Kinney, released a statement, offering their support for his family. The band’s original singer, Layne Staley, died from a drug overdose in 2002.
“Jerry and Sean are mourning the loss of their friend and ask that the media respect their privacy — and the privacy of Mike’s family — during this difficult time. Their thoughts & prayers are with Mike’s family,” it read.
Devastating to hear of Mike Starr succumbing to his illness. So very sad. Our prayers are with his family,” the doctor wrote on his Twitter page.

The surviving band Alice In Chains (singer Lane Staley died in 2002 from an overdose of heroin and cocaine), issued a statement expressing regret over the death of Starr.
