Facebook bypassed Yahoo by Views of Advertising
In the third quarter of 2010, a social networking site Facebook has become the most popular platform in the U.S. among Internet users seen by the number of media advertising. The share of Facebook accounts for 23 percent of all views. Such data is published by the U.S. company comScore.
For the third quarter of the total media advertising impressions in the U.S. grew by 22 percent and amounted to 1.284 million hits. In a Facebook media advertising during this time visitors 297,000 times.
According to this indicator Facebook bypassed sites Yahoo! (11 percent), Microsoft (5), Fox Interactive Media (3,8) and Google (2,7). The most active advertisers in this market sector companies became AT & T (1,6 percent), Scottrade (1,2) and Verizon (1,1).
This summer, researchers comScore found that advertising on social networks Facebook and MySpace is about 5 times cheaper than the rest of online advertising. Cost of thousands ad impressions (cost per impression – CPM) in these social networks is equal to 56 cents. The average cost of advertising on the Internet reaches 2.43 dollar.
