Croatian island may be named FaceBook
One of the Croatian islands can be renamed in honor of the social networking site Facebook . The idea to assign a new name to the island belongs to the mayor of the town of Hvar, Perino Bebic sent his idea to Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg and invited him to spend his summer vacation on Croatia’s Hvar, known as the sunniest island in the Adriatic.
“We will have more information when he answers, which we hope will be soon,” Bebic said.
Mayor of Hvar and the inhabitants of the city expressed hope that after renaming to FaceBook small island will begin to attract more tourists and will become the new Croatian tourist attraction.
Croatian Times indicates that 30 percent of Croatia’s population has an account with Facebook.
Hvar often hosts many famous vacationers, including the Formula 1 owner Bernie Ecclestone and fashion designer Giorgio Armani.
