Elton John Chief Editor of The Independent

Elton John on December 1 for one day takes the place of the editor of British newspaper The Independent, to issue a special number to the Day of AIDS, reported The Guardian.

The action aims to draw public attention to AIDS, and all proceeds  from the sale of the newspaper, will go to the Elton John Foundation, established to care for AIDS patients. The singer also intends to bring to this project, his friends, politicians and businessmen.

Elton John will shift temporarily from chief editor Simon Kelner’s post. The objectives of the star will include search and selection of news on the topic and the collection of comments within the coverage of World AIDS Day.

In the chair of the head of The Independent in May 2006 have been the leader of U2 Bono. Then he drew public attention to the spread of AIDS in Africa. The newspaper has sold 70 thousand copies and hit record sales of July 2005, London bombings.
