Most expensive bottle of wine sold at Christie‘s auction

Auction house Christie’s on Tuesday, November 16, in Geneva, held “wine” tenders “.

Top-lot was the six-liter bottle of Chateau Cheval-Blanc. An anonymous collector paid for Chateau Cheval-Blanc  304,375 dollars (223,967 euros). Before the auction the bottle of wine harvested in 1947 was estimated at 150-250 thousand dollars.

At Christie’s noted that this is a record amount ever collected at an auction for a bottle of wine. Auction organizers emphasize that sold the lot – perhaps unique in the world of Bordeaux bottled in the format of “Imperial”, that is, six-liter bottle. Sommelier, who tasted Chateau Cheval-Blanc, pointed out that this is one of the best wines made from Bordeaux wine producers.

Until now, “wine” record belonged to bottle Chateau Lafite 1869. In October, three bottles of wine left from Sotheby’s auction in Hong Kong for 230 thousand dollars each.
