The first minaret and mosque built In the Arctic

Canadian Muslims have built the first minaret in the Arctic. They established the first Arctic mosque, which appeared in September in the town of Inuvik, located 200 kilometers from the Arctic Circle. The height of the minaret – 10 meters, it has four levels.
It is noted that the building of the mosque and the minaret was built in four thousand kilometers from Inuvik and taken to a place in parts.

The mosque was built on the initiative of the local Muslim community, which consists mostly of Sunnis, who have migrated to Canada from Egypt, Lebanon and Sudan. The building will also be used as an Islamic cultural center.

The mosque is open to believers in the next week after recent renovations.

In Inuvik, all with a population of four thousand people, lives about 80 Muslims.
